Guys I am getting a female shepherd!! I am so excited, my dad said we may be able to get a new GSD soon. He is kinda unsure about getting one, but I have just about talked him into getting another one. And another guess what, we are getting a show quality one, so I can show her!!! YAH ME!

Someday I'd like to have a show-quality dog, but even if I did now we couldn't afford to show it.

haha yah the one breeder i want to get from the show quality dogs are 3500 so i have to save up!

Great! Showing is a lot of fun, and meeting others who share your passion for dogs are priceless too!

In fact I will be showing Snowy (registered name Von Tasz Konstanze) one week from today. I am also showing my friend's puppy too, so it will be a busy weekend for me.

Just keep in mind.... showing is a lot of fun but it can be very expensive!

The entry fees are usually around $25 per event (3 comformation shows and 1 speciality show totaled $87 this time) and the cost of traveling (due to raising gas cost) and lodgings (usually local hotels jack up their prices during the show weekend!) adds up....

So you outta start saving lots of $$$$ in addition to the $3500 for your dog!

So it looks like you want to show your new female in the German shows then. This is just according to the type of dogs that this breeder breeds. I don't know if they will fair to well in the AKC show ring as the AKC is very anal about GSD's and they don't think that true "German" GSD's look like what they are supposed to look like. They like it when the dog is really angulated no back roach, etc...

Well good luck in what you want to do, and remember just cause your going to spend 3500 on a dog doesn't mean that your going to get that winner's bitch. Shop around and look at other breeders. Make your way to some shows and start talking to other GSD breeders and handlers and I am sure they will point you in a good direction.

Besides if you are really interested in showing, why not try "junior handler program"? They will look at your handling skills rather than the dog. You can use Gideon to show. You can even earn scholarships.

It's a great way to get expereince in showing and get some exposure.
